Broadcaster Síle Seoige is a regular visitor to the PorterShed Hub in Galway, one of the hundreds of Connected Hubs dotted around the country. Having relocated from Dublin back to her native county last year (she’s currently building her dream home in gorgeous Spiddal) it makes sense to have a space to work, and, of course, record her excellent podcast, ‘Ready to be Real’.
This week, Síle dropped in to visit the PorterShed, capturing a video that showcases her favourite things about this vibrant and bustling community. She also wanted to give fans a glimpse into how she records her podcast. This excellent series sees the broadcaster interview a host of guests from various walks of life on topics as diverse as health and parenting to trauma, anxiety and grief. And in fact, Síle has recorded Ready to be Real several times in the PorterShed.
See what Síle has to say here.
The PorterShed is one of the country’s bigger Hubs, and is located in the heart of Galway City. It comprises two buildings, Market Street and Bowling Green. This, says Síle, creates a buzzing campus-like environment, with over 300 members using the space every day. It has “great start-up energy”, she continues, with 54 tech companies currently calling the PorterShed home.
As well as innovative event spaces, a host of hot desks and – importantly! – a coffee station on every floor, the PorterShed Market Street boasts a podcast studio which Síle has used many times to record her pod. As she explains, the team have invested in high-end, easy-to-use equipment that guarantees great sound quality every time. The whole process, she says, is “seamless”; perfect for any budding podcast hosts out there!
The PorterShed is just one of hundreds of fantastic spaces in the Connected Hubs network. As well as a place to work from, these spaces are great for meeting like-minded individuals, whether that’s a new friend or potential business partner. Many Hubs offer workshops, speaker events and meet-ups on-site that provide an opportunity to either grow your business, or simply get to know your Hub-mates. Find out more here.
So, whether you’re looking for a convenient office space near your home, are travelling and want to hot desk for a few days, or fancy utilising some of their specialist facilities, there’s a Hub for you!
