Four Hubs for Happy Glampers

While the lure of a sunny mainland European camping trip is very real, for some pale-skinned Irish holidaymakers, the potential extreme heat is a concern! Good to know that there are campsites here in Ireland nestled in some of the country’s most stunning locations. What better way for little ones to familiarise themselves with our beautiful island, without the dreaded fear of 40-degree-heat? With that in mind, here are our top campsite recommendations, plus their local hubs – should you need to get some work done (while grabbing a coffee!). Better yet? Many campsites have undergone a luxe makeover in recent years, with a host of beautifully located glamping options to choose from for your next coolcation (in every sense of the word!)

Here's our pick of four of the best:

Rockfarm Slane, Meath

Live your best rock-star life, and book into this beautifully appointed site in Slane. The brainchild of the Mountcharles family, accommodation is open all year round with holiday homes on offer. Groups or families can book into the site’s otherworldly Yurts from March to November which offer comfortable beds along with wood-burning stoves so you can feel cosy, while gazing at the stars from the veranda. For smaller parties, the site also offers Shepherd’s Huts with sleeping accommodation for two, along with Bell Tents for bigger groups. With a host of tourist spots along the Boyne Valley, you can also avail of delicious organic food via an Honesty Box on-site or order from the Farm Shop which is available on-site on selected date. For nearby Hub options, check out Meath Enterprise Hub for available desks.

A host of activities are available on-site including mini golf, table tennis and pickleball. The pods are located just a few minutes’ walk from Morriscastle Beach, famous for its golden sand and safe waters, so don’t forget your buckets, spades, Tayto sambos & flasks of tea! Should you need to get any work done, check out the available desk options in the nearby KCC WorkSpace at Kilanerin Community Centre.
